What does a full integration of claude or openAI models into the phone even mean? What additional functionality can one get and what are those use cases? Does it actually pull in more users to the voice/Siri interface? I mean even with vastly superior models, does it move the needle enough to attract more users?
Why is OpenAI getting away with this crap? They are clearly failing to control their code. If someone did this pre-AI or even ran the exact same set up as openAI did and hacked another site, they would be in jail. OpenAI is not even issuing an apology, they are happily blaming AI and weirdly using this to tout their progress even.
If you dare slow the progress of AI, you crash the entire world economy because the only thing investors are putting money into are these cash burning machines. They've got an IPO to hype, who has the time to care about useless things like accountability?
Maybe a crash is what we need to reset the balance. We are spending a lot of money building shovels, but not enough to invest on the company that will use what will be mined.
If the money could flow back to the real economy instead of the AI economy, it might be healthier for the whole system.
Because it's treated as a strategic asset now. AI capital spendign 1/3 of US GDP growth last quarter take it out and the economy is stalled. Nobody in DC is going to prosecute the only thing making the number go up.
Accountability is not possible when progress moves faster than law. It was noticed around 2023 when it was clear that legal is outpaced by technology that this is a runaway process with no turning back and no accountability.

Traditional companies took out superbowl ads, OpenAI manufactures "scares". It's extremely unethical. But we're facing biblical levels of greed here, OpenAI is still wildly unprofitable, so they will attempt to survive at any cost.
How is this expected to work? How is meta going to get access to my data on a phone? Did they build all the integrations needed for every app? This doesn’t look good for privacy, I don’t trust meta at all.
I watched it around the time it released or may be on dvd. I remember thinking the premise is great but the situations are way too exaggerated for comedy and in some ways the movie tries too hard for laughs. Looking back and comparing with today, I would say he did not exaggerate it enough!! To start, he said the country devolves in 500 years, hardly took 20.
This one doesn’t mention tourist visas, so I am guessing they will be issued? I don’t get what benefit they see by inconveniencing and potentially harming folks that are already in the country legally to just live their lives. I get that this administration’s goal is to completely shut down all immigration and potentially even remove folks here legally too but there will be a cost to bear for the country because of that. It will be slow to come and so they will be able to blame it on the next administration
This is specifically for immigrant visas. USCIS distinguishes two broad categories of visas: immigrants and non-immigrants. Tourists are part of the latter group.
That's not accurate. H-1B is a non-immigrant visa. It's not intended for tourists.
From CBP's own website[1], emphasis is mine:
An immigrant visa (IV) is issued to a foreign national wishing to live permanently in the United States.
A nonimmigrant visa (NIV) is issued to a foreign national with permanent residence outside the United States but wishes to be in the United States on a temporary basis for tourism, medical treatment, *business, temporary work, or study*, as examples. Note: There are more than 20 different categories of nonimmigrant visa classifications.
That is reference to people who have applied for asylum after having come in on a tourist visa. Technically their status is legal, because they have a pending application. This is an attempt to make their status illegal, so they can be deported.
